Hello! My name is Shelby Arthur. I began my teaching career here at the
wonderful St. John Paul II in 2018. This will be my fifth year as the middle school science teacher. I also teach the 6th grade STEM class, forensic science, and help with production for the school play.
I graduated with high distinction from Indiana University Southeast in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. During my time at IUS, I was a part of a field biology course, where I traveled to Australia to conduct field research on the biodiversity of a variety of species, including birds, marine animals, and invertebrates. While in Australia, I was able to scuba dive and collect research from the Great Barrier
Reef, which was an awesome experience and opportunity.
I am currently continuing my education through IUS’s Advanced to Secondary Education program, where I will graduate in the fall of 2022 with my teaching license and my Master’s in Education. I am very excited to grow and expand my knowledge as an educator. I love being a part of the amazing middle school team here at St. John Paul II. I believe we all work well together to provide the best education for the students to prepare them for the rigors of high school. My goal as an educator is to create a learning environment where all students can be successful, and feel safe and welcomed in my classroom. I use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to better reach all my students to help them succeed.
My husband Ty and I have been married for seven years. We have two wonderful and wild little boys: Tripp and Axel. Some of my favorite hobbies include running, swimming, boating, reading, and hanging out with my family. I am so thankful to God every day for guiding me to St. John Paul II. I truly feel like this is where I am meant to be. I look forward to another great year with the middle school!
