Hello, my name is Marcy Kist. This is my 14th year at St. John Paul II Catholic School, as a Kindergarten teacher. I have 10 previous years of education in the public sector with Greater Clark Schools teaching Full Day Kindergarten. I graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 2000 with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later received my Masters and Plus 30 with a concentration in Early Childhood Development.
On a more personal note, I have been married 21 years to my husband Kevin and we have 3 handsome sons. My oldest is a Senior at Providence, along with my middle son who will be a Freshman there as well, and my youngest is in 8th grade here at St. John Paul II Catholic School. We are excited for our boys to develop a closer relationship to God and strengthen our Catholic community spirit by being part of this wonderful parish.
I am a firm believer in communication with my parents to acknowledge superior work and areas of concern through newsletters, verbal contact and personalized notes. This will allow us to evaluate your child’s progress and support recommendations for further student development.
The goal of my classroom is to develop a strong foundation…one centered on faith and values, but one that also includes outstanding academics. I am trained in current assessment tools and I have the ability to use this information to guide my lessons for students. I am passionate about creating educational, creative and hands-on lessons which include: learning centers, STEM activities, open exploration, workstations, small groups and guided reading to name a few all focused around the Indiana Standards. The kids will have fun and enjoy learning throughout their Kindergarten year while building a strong foundation for the years to come.
