Hello! My name is Nikki Lasher. I am so excited to start another school year at JPII!
After graduating high school in 2007, I attended Indiana University - Bloomington. It was there that I developed a love for education and a passion for teaching. My classroom is my second home, and I take great pride in the amount of time and energy I put into making it a comfortable and safe place for children to learn. I believe that developing a love for school develops a lifelong love for learning.
I grew up in Henryville, Indiana and attended school at Henryville Elementary, St. John Paul II, and ultimately graduated as a Silver Creek Dragon. While attending IU, I met the love of my life, Brent, who serves in the United States Air Force. He is currently stationed at the University of Louisville as an ROTC instructor and recruiter. Since being married we have lived in Indiana, South Dakota and Delaware. During our moves we have done a great deal of traveling throughout the United States. We love exploring National Parks and trying new local restaurants. We have two children Ellie (4), and Cooper (2). They keep us busy and we love spending time together as a family!
As I begin my second year of teaching Social Studies, I think about all of the traveling I have done throughout my life. It wasn't until I started exploring new places and learning new cultures that I began to really appreciate the rich history of our world. I am very eager to take my students on new adventures without ever leaving our classroom. I also have a passion for the Arts in education, health and wellness education, and incorporating technology into my lessons.
