Hello, my name is Julie Cahalan. This is my thirty-first year teaching at St. John Paul II Catholic School. I have taught fifth grade, sixth grade, PE and this will be my twelfth year providing learning support services to students in grades K-8. I graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a minor in Recreation. I received my master’s degree in 1999 from Indiana Wesleyan University.
On a more personal note, I have been married to my husband Tony for 35 years and have three wonderful children: Lauren, Lindsay, and Cory. Over the years, Catholic education has been very important to our family. My husband and I both attended Catholic grade school and high school and our children were lucky to do the same. They all graduated from St. Paul Catholic School and Providence High School. The foundation laid during those years prepared them for success in college and beyond. My daughter Lauren graduated from Bellarmine University and is a respiratory therapist in Louisville. Lindsay graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a degree in health management and works at a senior living facility in the area. She and her husband Kameron have 2 daughters, Adalynn and Hazel and a son on the way. My son Cory graduated from Marian University with a degree in marketing and currently works for a local tech company. He and his wife Brittany have a son named Carter and a daughter named Callie. God has certainly blessed our family!
I also feel very blessed to be a part of the St. John Paul II community. We truly are a family here. Our parents, teachers, and staff work hand-in-hand to ensure success for all those who attend our school. I am passionate about providing academic support to students who have varied learning styles. My main goal for these kiddos is to help them feel successful, become self-sufficient, and develop a love for learning. I believe focusing on these aspects is very important to the growth of our students.
