Hello! Welcome to St. John Paul II Catholic School!
My name is Julie Graham. This year begins my nineteenth year of teaching. For fifteen of those years I taught kindergarten or first grade at Riverside Elementary within the Greater Clark County School Corporation. Two years ago I was blessed with an opportunity to teach fifth grade here at JPII. It has been an absolute privilege to incorporate my faith in Jesus Christ while teaching the Indiana State Standards and developing relationships with the wonderful students and staff here at JPII!
When I have free time I like to spend time with friends and family, travel, read, volunteer at my church, and participate in Bible studies.
For the 2024-25 school year Ms. Meyer and I will be departmentalizing our teaching, and my focus will be on math and social studies. Over the past eighteen years I have witnessed countless children who feel insecure and discouraged about their math abilities. I am very excited about the challenges and opportunities to help our students discover the strategies that work for them, gain confidence in explaining how they solve problems, and reach, as well as uncover, their full learning potentials in this critical subject!
As I begin my third year of teaching social studies (U.S. geography and history) to our fifth graders, I think about all the traveling I have done. I have extensively visited all 48 contiguous states and lived and worked in four of them. I have also traveled to four other countries in North and South America. It wasn’t until I began exploring the United States that I really started to understand and appreciate its rich history, beauty, and diversity. I am very excited to help our fifth graders discover how incredible our country is and how they, as good citizens, can make it even better.
I am looking forward to a great year!
