My name is Amy Smith. I am a graduate of St. Paul Elementary and Our Lady of Providence Jr/Sr High School. I graduated from Indiana University Southeast with an education degree in 2003 and later returned to get my Master's Degree. I taught at Austin Elementary for 10 years and then West Washington Elementary for 4 years before coming to St. John Paull II. This will be my fifth year at St. John Paul II.
My goal is to create a learning environment that encourages students’ learning, growing in faith, and the fostering of relationships. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I strive to reach each of the different intelligences that make up my classroom. My hope is for them to develop the same love for learning and most of all love for Jesus Christ. I feel blessed to teach in such an amazing Christian environment!
My family and I live in Sellersburg and are members of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. Sean and I were married at St. Paul 19 years ago. Sean is also a teacher and coaches many youth teams. We have three children, Addison, Avery and Carter. Our twins, Addison and Avery are in 9th grade this year at Providence High School and Carter is a sixth grader at St. John Paul II. They are all active in multiple sports. I also coach freshman volleyball at Providence High School. During my free time I love to watch my kids play sports and spend time with my family.
