Mrs. Amanda Sumpter

Hello, my name is Amanda Sumpter. I teach sixth grade at St. John Paul II Catholic School. This will be my fifth year teaching at St. John Paul II, and I am thrilled to again be a part of the wonderful faculty and staff. I graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, with my bachelor’s degree in both Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

I attended St. Paul Catholic School from kindergarten through sixth grade. Looking back on my experience I feel so blessed to have been a part of the St. Paul, now the St. John Paul II, family. Sixth grade is such a fun and exciting year here at St. John Paul II. Students have many exciting events ahead of them, such as The Living Rosary, School Colors, May Crowning, and CYO Camp. I am eager to be part of these experiences and watch my students grow over the course of the school year.

My goal as an educator is to create a learning environment that promotes student success in a fun and caring way. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways. By providing different teaching strategies and hands-on learning experiences I hope to reach and engage each student in my classroom. Catholic education is very important to me and I will strive to incorporate our religious values into everything going on in the classroom in order to create a Christ-centered environment for my students.

My husband Zac and I will be married four years this September.  We were blessed with our first baby boy, Zander, in December 2014.  I have been a lifelong member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, attending at the St. Joe Hill Chapel since I was a child. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing different sports, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am so thankful to again be a part of the St. John Paul II family and look forward to a great year in sixth grade!
