Computer Lab

The use of technology is woven throughout the lessons in our classrooms, but beyond those opportunities, each child grade K-6 is engaged in the computer lab twice a week. There the students are guided through lessons by Mrs. Katie Sellmer who is has her Master’s Degree in Educational Technology.

Equipment Available to the Students
The St. John Paul II Catholic School Computer Lab boasts a 30 Work Station Thin  Client work space. The work stations are fire wall protected and maintained by our Information Technology providers, Five Star Technologies. Lessons from the teacher are projected onto an Interactive White Board.

Computer Skills
Our Preschool students that attend the three day a week class are introduced to our computer lab each week. The Kindergarten students begin the school’s program with learning to navigate a mouse and a keypad. They quickly progress to playing games to practice basic skills. Keyboarding skills are taught early so that students are comfortable with a keyboard. Grade two students begin testing their skills by covering the keyboard’s letter markings. Grade four students are Power Point proficient and use this program as a required part of a major project they complete. Our students also learn to use Word, Excel, and Publisher.
